Baahubali pass $40mn overseas while its Dangal in China.

Records set in May 2017 may take some years to beat. Initially it was only Baahubali The Conclusion but now way Dangal is going in China it is serious contender for that Biggest Grosser Worldwide, which looked like will take years to break couple of days back.

Starting with Dangal, which grossed $31.8mn in its 2nd Weekend in China on around 8500 locations to take its tally par $56.8mn. This push the film to $90.3mn overseas, just $9.7mn short of $100mn overseas which will be done by Tuesday or Wednesday. Not to skip that film’s worldwide gross now stands at ₹1102cr. What grab the eyes apart from the huge gross is the fact that 2nd weekend is around thrice of the 1st. Coincidentally last year, released on same weekend, Zootopia witnessed similar business trend, opening at $23.6mn to finally conclude at $237mn. Correlating the trend of Zootopia and Dangal in China, If later follows same route, we are looking at $110-120mn in full run.

Zootopia had lesser growth in 2nd weekend than Dangal but that’s probably due the larger gross in 1st weekend which is around double of other. A lot will be depending on how Pirates of the Caribbeans which release on May 26th in China.

Moving out of Middle Kingdom, its Baahubali mania which is still unstoppable. It grossed $3mn in its 3rd Weekend, taking its international cume to $40.95mn in 17 days. Film is now biggest Indian film in United Arab Emirates. Standing just below $20mn in North America, it becomes the 1st to gross A$4mn in Australia and N$1mn in New Zealand. Its worldwide total now stands at ₹1332cr i.e. ₹232cr or $36mn ahead of Dangal. Earlier in weekend, film becomes the first to gross ₹1000cr in India, $200mn worldwide, ₹1300cr worldwide and so on.

Punjabi film Lahoriye grossed $850k in its opening weekend which is par other Punjabi biggies. Both the Bollywood releases, Sarkar 3 and Meri Pyari Bindu fared poorly grossing $440k and $300k each.
