Weekly Box Office : Baahubali on fire while Guardians met the ashes

There might not be anything more easier than the way Baahubali 2 topped Indian Box Office in its 2nd week. New releases, namely Guardians of The Galaxy 2 and CiA, remained off track but there hardly was any chance either. On north to us in China, Dangal created history, topping the daily chart there which is simply phenomenal for an Indian film.

It’s getting routine now to see The Conclusion busting records. Film grossed ₹327.4cr in its 2nd week, dropping just above 49% from the 1st week. This is highest ever 2nd week by margin and safe to assume that will stand for at least 4-5 years if not a decade. In 2 weeks, film is highest grossing film ever in all Distribution territories of India which isn’t achieved by any film in our database. 2 weeks cume stands at ₹972.4cr, just under that ₹1000cr milestone which will passe on Saturday. For those interested in Day wise collection breakdown.

  • Friday : ₹46.45cr
  • Saturday : ₹59.7cr
  • Sunday : ₹76.56cr
  • Monday : ₹41.15cr
  • Tuesday : ₹36.82cr
  • Wednesday : ₹36.55cr
  • Thursday : ₹30.1cr

As one can see that film is yet to go down that ₹30cr figure in single day while there are not more than 25  films to get that figure on their opening day. Overseas is same story, as film adds record $10mn in its 2nd week to take International Cume at $38mn, with around 45% coming from United States. Globally film stand at ₹1218 cr with an astonishing distributor share of ₹600cr Approx.

Speaking of distant 2nd, GOTG 2 crossed the lifetime collection of GOTG in 1 week but that is the only positive of film as it fared poorly with a ₹16.4cr or $2.54mn. Malayalam film CiA had good start but couldn’t capitalise it with ₹12cr Approx 1st Week. Financially film is safe bet but that’s completely different track. Fate of The Furious got some diesel left minting ₹1cr in Week 4 for total of ₹121 cr.

Wrapping up with Dangal China glory where it currently stands at $24.98mn in week 1 on 7031 locations , for an international Cume of $58.5mn or ₹387 cr and Globe total of ₹898 cr.
