Weekly Box Office : Baahubalian Week in India

India is witnessing a Box Office history, it’s biggest ever Box Office event. Gone by week with ₹650cr gross, was biggest ever week at Indian Box Office, both nominally and inflation adjusted, outpacing previous best of ₹365cr approx during 17-23 July 2015, when Bajrangi Bhaijaan released along with Baahubali The Beginning.

Baahubali 2 smashed ₹654.8cr in its 1st week in India which is well ahead of previous lifetime biggest grosser Dangal’s ₹511cr. This includes ₹5cr from 10 IMAX screens. The best thing about film’s performance is its box-office trend which is showing no signs of slowing down. Following is the day wise gross of film in 1st week.

  • Friday : ₹132.8cr
  • Saturday : ₹103.85cr
  • Sunday : ₹117.25cr
  • Monday : ₹103.1cr
  • Tuesday : ₹72.5cr
  • Wednesday : ₹64.6cr
  • Thursday : ₹57.8cr

Breaking the collection region wise we got the highest first week collection in all 5 major divisions.

  • North India : ₹334.3cr
  • AP/TG : ₹153.8cr (₹155.3cr including PP)
  • Karnataka : ₹65.5cr (₹66.7cr including PP)
  • Tamilnadu : ₹67cr
  • Kerala : ₹31.6cr

Adding another crown to film, Baahubali 2 with more than 5cr admission in first week is most watched film in any single country in one week. This easily edges Fate of The Furious’s 4.5cr Approx admissions in China.

With around half coming from Baahubali 2, Tollywood has emerged biggest industry in India of 2017 till now, though it may not stay for long with Bollywood biggies such as Tubelight, Tiger Zinda Hai, SRK’s untitled next slated to release later in year.

Baahubali continued its glorious run overseas too giving it $27.5mn 1st Week ($28mn till Thursday). This make its Global Cume till Thursday to surge at ₹835cr, 10% up previous record holder PK’s ₹750cr. Apart from UK, Gulf and Malaysia film is set to become biggest grosser in almost all major overseas territories.

Speaking of Holdovers, there was nothing for them at Ticket window with Fate of The Furious settling with ₹3cr gross week taking its 3 weeks Cume at ₹120cr. Manje Bistre ends it’s run at ₹19.5cr in India and ₹37cr Globally.
