Weekly Box office : Fate of The Furious comfortably leads in 2nd week

April didn’t turn out well for Indian cinema barring Fate Of The Furious and couple of regional flicks doing well. Of Course Baahubali will be doing its record breaking but overall April turned out a downer. With Baahubali being played at almost every single theatre of country, there isn’t much left for holdovers to do. This probably marks end of run for all these films as they will hardly add anything to their Cume.

Starting with Fate of The Furious, film grossed ₹24.5cr ($3.8mn) in its 2nd week, taking its 2 weeks Cume at ₹117 cr ($18.2mn). This makes the film 4th Biggest Hollywood grosser in India behind The Jungle Book, Furious 7 and Jurassic World, though in terms of USD it’s still behind Avatar and 2012 both released in 2009.

Sonakshi Sinha starrer Noor was one of many films made these days which was written off before release and as speculated it turn out to be a disaster grossing ₹9cr (₹6.5cr Nett) in its 1st week. Film’s 1st week collection are less than half of actress’s debut film Dabangg’s 1st day in 2010. This sums it all.

Another film which made a mark at Box Office was Punjabi film Manje Bistre starring Gippy Grewal which grossed ₹5.8cr in its 2nd week, aggregating ₹18.75cr in 2 weeks. Film fared well overseas too grossing $2.5mn approx so far.

Noteworthy performance came from animation film The Boss Baby which now stands at ₹16.5cr ($2.52mn) after 4 weeks just outside Top 10 Highest grossing animated films in India. Rajkumaara a Kannada film is highest grossing film of industry but due to no consistent figures available we currently not report Sandalwood films.
